How to connect an OMNEO Unit to a Matrix

How to connect an OMNEO Unit to a Matrix

The document will show you the use of IPedit to connect a unit to a matrix and vice versa. These steps are valid for all OMNEO devices. The matrix can be ODIN, OMS or an OMI card in an ADAM(-M) frame.  Open IPedit and select the Network Interface Card that is connected in the same Subnet as the OMNEO ports of the Unit and the Matrix. If your units are not already showing in the catalog of IPedit, add them to the Catalog

1) Configure the unit in IPedit

1.      Select the unit to be connected in your Catalog.
2.      Always connect Channel 1 of the unit as the connection to the matrix.
3.      Click the three dot in the field “Destination Device Name”.
4.      A window will popup showing all discovered devices, select the matrix to connect to.
5.      The IP address of the matrix will be filled in automatically.
6.      Select the Channel Number of the matrix to connect to. Note that the Channel Number is not always the same as the Port Number of the matrix!
7.      Send the changes to the unit using the “Send All Changes” button on the Toolbar.
8.      Your Unit is set to connect to the matrix, now you need to tell you matrix to connect to this unit. Continue to the next step “Connect the Matrix to the Unit”

2) Connect the Matrix to the Unit.

9. Left click on the Matrix unit in the Catalog.
10. Go to the channel that is related to the Port to which the unit needs to be connected.
11. Click the three dots in the field “Destination Device Name”.
12. A popup window will show with all discovered devices, select the Unit to connect to and click OK.
13. The IP address field will be filled in automatically.
14. Always use Channel 1 for intercom connection[1]
15. Send the changes to the matrix using the Toolbar button “Send All Changes”.
16. After a few seconds the field “Connection State” will change from “Idle” to “Connected”.
If this does not happen then there is an error in the configuration, check all previous steps.
17. On the OMNEO tab of the matrix the green boxes will show when the connection is correct.
The top box shows the Audio connection to and from the Unit.
The bottom box shows the Data connection (for Alpha’s and control) to and from the Unit.

[1] Only for AP-1800 connections you will use the Channel Number of the Beltpack where it is on the AP.
